Siding - Why should I add insulation under my new siding?
Adding rigid foam insulation to the outside of your home before you install siding is a very smart idea. Not only are you "tightening the envelop" of your home, but you are also adding "R" value and increasing comfort.
For each siding job, Double R installs rigid foam board insulation under the new siding. But we also take our commitment to doing the best job to another level. We then tape the seams of the insulation which cuts down on air infiltration even further.
Your home's exterior walls' "R Value" is only as good as the weakest spot. Adding insulation helps to increase the efficiency of your existing insulation while adding comfort and energy efficiency.
Imagine it's cold outside, but you have on 25 T-shirts. But in each of those T-shirts holes have been cut out. How warm will you really be? Think of your home with all these "penetrations". This is why you need to add insulation under your new siding.
